TPACK Lesson Questions

1. How well the use of this technology may support your teaching strategies in this activity?
I think the technology helped give the students a better look at what I was trying to explain. The YouTube video gave the students another example of how to complete the objective. Also, having Kahoot for the students to play along with a quiz game.

2. How effectively the use of this technology enhance students' understanding of and learning from your particular content in this activity?
I think the technology keeps the student engaged because in today's world, most of the students are addicted to their piece of technology.

3. What are your strategies and why do you think your strategies are appropriate to teaching this specific content? What makes you believe it would help your students comprehend this particular content?
My strategy for this content would be to bring materials to class so students can have a hands on experience along with learning the materials. I think this is appropriate for the content I am teaching because it will keep the students engaged and it will also be fun to have hands on. I believe it will help because most people are hands on learners, including myself.

4. What would be some conceptions and pre-conceptions that students of different ages and backgrounds bring with them when learning this particular content? What would you be concerned about students' prior knowledge, experiences, motivation?
There are several things that I would be worried about. Having students of different ages, some students will have a more advanced thought and knowledge for the game compared to the younger kids. I do not think I would have time to break down the content for the different ages. Also, I do not know what kind of prior knowledge the students will have. I would definitely have to start from ground zero, and build all the way back up. Along with that, I don't know what other teachers or coaches have taught them. I do not want the student/athlete having trouble remembering things I am trying to teach them because they still have an old thought in their mind from their previous teacher.

5. What main instructional strategies would this technology use serve in your activity? How would using the technology support the way you teach this activity? Give examples.
The technology for my lesson plan is YouTube and Kahoot. Both of these apps are excellent for the class use! Students can get on YouTube and look for thousands of videos of a particular subject! This is helpful because if a student does not understand one video, they can move to the next until they find one where they understand the content. Kahoot is also great for the classroom because the teacher can create quizzes for their students to attempt on their smartphone. This is a great resource because it will keep the students engaged, while also learning the material!

6. What different classroom management strategies you might need to consider when using this technology in the activity?
For my particular lesson plan, I will have to manage my students very closely! This being, because I will have to make sure they are using YouTube correctly and watching the correct video. I will have to walk around the classroom and check on the students computer or tablet to make sure they are staying on task. Along with YouTube, I will have to make sure that the students are staying on topic when using Kahoot on their smartphones/laptops.

7. How would using this technology enhance the way the content is represented in your activity? That is why you think the selection and the pedagogical use of this technology may enhance the way you teach. Give examples.
Technology would enhance this content because the apps that are provided can go into deep detail about the material we are going over. As stated above, YouTube has millions of thousands of videos that can go into depth and make the material easier to understand. Kahoot will give quizzes that can test the students knowledge about the material and ultimately improve their knowledge.

8. In what different ways students practice or understand the content in your activity that would otherwise not be possible without the use of technology? In addition to motivational benefits, what else can the students do with this technology as they are learning the content?
Without the use of technology, students will not be able to listen to or watch videos on YouTube. The content can still be learned without having the use of the technology, but it would most likely help! Technology is their for use to expand our thoughts and knowledge about a certain subject that we are interested in. With addition to benefits, the students will be able to save the quizzes or videos to look over again at a later date. This will help the students because if they do not remember some of the material, they can review the content again to get a refresher! They will also be able to work at their own pace and can pause or rewind videos if they missed something or do not understand what is being taught. Students will also be able to attempt quizzes on Kahoot as many times as they want, until they ace the test, or understand the material without a doubt.

  1. I really enjoyed your lesson over throwing a baseball properly. I learned valuable techniques I hadn't known about beforehand. The four thread was very interesting to me. The lesson was very informative and interactive and the game helps to reinforce the gained knowledge. The only thing I would have maybe added would have been to post the lesson plan up on the Smart Board. Great lesson!

  2. I loved your lesson! I learned lots about throwing a baseball in the correct way. I think it was very well taught. My only advice would be to maybe have had a student try and hold the baseball correctly. Other than that I think you did great teaching your lesson!

  4. I had no idea so much went into throwing a baseball, people make it look so simple. I think you did an awesome job explaining what to do. It would have been pretty fun to go outside and have everyone try and throw it, maybe that's something to add in if you ever did teach this lesson.

  5. You definitely did a great job to explain the contents so we all learn the proper way to throw the baseball! It would be great if we all get the chance to hold the ball and do the practice! You had a good choice of apps in your teaching!
